Generator Rental in Fremont
We size, deliver and hook up diesel generators from 20kW to 500kW and up, then keep them fueled until your utility service or permanent gear takes over.
Power for sites that cannot wait on the utility
Plenty of East Bay jobs start before the meter does. The pad is graded, the trailer is on site and the PG&E date is still weeks out. A rented generator lets the crew work on schedule instead of on the utility’s calendar.
Most of what we send out around Fremont is mid-size and large diesel. Tilt-up and warehouse jobs use 100kW to 150kW units to run lifts, welders and pumps. Data center and industrial work can call for 300kW and up, sometimes in pairs. A remodel or small tract phase usually runs on a 20kW to 45kW towable, or a portable gas unit for hand tools.
Once the permanent temp pole is hot, the generator comes off rent. Many contractors keep a smaller unit on site as backup or to run spot coolers for the curing room during a summer pour.

When a rental generator makes sense
Generators fill a few different gaps on Bay Area jobs. These are the ones we see week after week.
Waiting on PG&E
The permit is signed off but the meter is not set. A generator keeps the site running and we pull it the day the utility energizes the pole.
Sites with no service at all
Grading, utility trenching and road work often never get a temporary service. A diesel unit with a large belly tank runs the trailer, pumps and lights for the whole job.
Heavy phases on big pads
A tilt-up panel pour, a steel erection push or a big MEP phase can outgrow the temp service for a few weeks. We add a unit to carry the extra load.
Shutdowns and cutovers
Industrial and lab tenants need power during a switchgear swap. We stage the generator ahead of time and test it before the planned outage.
Outages and PSPS shutoffs
When PG&E turns off lines for fire weather, a standby unit keeps a site office, a pump or a cooling system running. Call early in fire season, since demand spikes when shutoffs are announced.
How a generator rental goes from call to hookup
Step 1
List the loads
We go through what will run: lifts, welders, compressors, pumps, trailers and HVAC. Motors pull far more amps at startup, so we size for the biggest starting load, not just the average.
Step 2
Pick the unit and fuel plan
We match kW, voltage and phase to your loads and figure how many hours a tank will last at that draw. For larger units we help you check whether a BAAQMD permit applies before delivery.
Step 3
Deliver and place
The unit tows or rides a flatbed to the spot we planned, level and clear of traffic, with room for the fuel truck to reach it.
Step 4
Cable, connect and load test
We run cam-lock cable to your distribution, land the leads and run the unit under load. The crew does not leave until it holds.
Step 5
Fuel, service and pickup
Fuel deliveries run on a schedule. If a unit faults, we swap it. When the job is done, we disconnect and haul it away.
What a contractor-run generator rental gets you
A generator is only as good as the cable, the distribution and the fuel plan behind it. We are licensed electricians, so we land the leads, set the distribution and test under load before we leave.
- Towable diesel from 20kW to 500kW and larger
- Portable gas units for light tool loads
- Load sizing for both running and starting draw
- Cam-lock cable, distribution panels and spider boxes
- Scheduled fuel delivery so tanks do not run dry
- Help checking whether a BAAQMD permit applies
Generator sizes and gear on the yard list
The right size depends on your peak load, how long you run it each day and where it has to sit. These are the classes we rent most.
20kW to 45kW towables
Good for remodels, small tract phases, a single trailer, hand tools and a few lights. They tow behind a pickup and fit tight driveways.
100kW to 150kW units
The common pick for tilt-up and warehouse shells, small commercial jobs and mid-size MEP phases. They carry lifts, welders and pumps together.
300kW to 500kW and up
For data center, industrial and large commercial loads, cranes and full-building backup. These need placement planning, larger cable and often a distribution panel.
Portable gas units
Small, quiet enough for a residential street and easy to move. Best for hand tools, a pump or a short punch list after the main power is off.
Cable and distribution
We supply cam-lock cable, panels and spider boxes so power reaches where the work is. On a big pad we can also feed electric light towers on the slab from the same unit.
Fuel delivery
We schedule diesel runs based on the load and tank size. Fuel is billed by the gallon delivered.
Weekly generator rates in the Fremont area
On a weekly rate, small 20kW to 45kW towables tend to cost around $500 to $1,200. Step up to 100kW to 150kW and most jobs land in the $1,500 to $3,000 per week bracket. We price 300kW and larger units job by job, and diesel is always on top.
- Size of the unit in kW
- Rental length, with better rates by the month
- Fuel used, billed per gallon
- Cable, panels and distribution
- Delivery distance and placement
- Air permit work for larger units, where it applies
We quote after we see the load list. For long jobs a monthly rate almost always beats paying by the week.
What contractors ask before renting a generator
What size generator do I need?
Add up what runs at the same time, then look at the largest motor starting. A site drawing 40kW steady may still need a much bigger unit so the air compressor and the boom lift can kick on at once. We do this math with you before we quote.
Does a large generator need an air permit?
It can. The Bay Area Air Quality Management District has rules for engines over certain sizes and run times. Check with BAAQMD whether a permit applies to your unit and job, and we will help you gather the engine details they ask for.
Can the generator run my temp pole until PG&E connects?
Yes. We can feed the temp panel or your distribution directly, then disconnect when the meter is set. That is one of the most common rentals we do.
How often do you deliver fuel?
It depends on load and tank size. A lightly loaded unit may go a week or more; a large unit under heavy load may need fuel every few days. We set the schedule with you and adjust it as the job changes.
Do you rent generators for power shutoffs?
Yes, for sites and businesses that need to keep running during an outage or PSPS event. Units go fast when a shutoff is announced, so reserve ahead of fire season if you can.
